Brakes Services

Brakes are a critical part of your vehicle, allowing you to stop safely. Each wheel has its own brake components. Brakes are composed of brake fluid lines, a caliper, a disc rotor drum and a set of pads. Every time you step on the brake pedal the brake caliper squeezes the two brake pads on either side of the disc rotor. The friction of the pads against the rotor is what makes your vehicle stop.  Over time the friction will cause brake pads to wear thin, rotors may warp and/or rust. Brakes deteriorate based on amount of use and moisture they are exposed to. Brake pads, rotors, calipers and brake fluid lines are all Vermont State Inspection safety items, they are looked at yearly. The technicians at Mann and Machine also look at pad and rotor wear when they do tire change overs.  If you hear grinding, a metal-on-metal sound, feel pulsation when you step on the brake pedal, or the brake pedal is falling to the floor under pressre call us right away to have your vehicle’s brakes looked at.

Oil Change / Lube Service

At Mann & Machine an “oil change” is an Oil, Lube & Filter service. This means we change your vehicles oil and filter, and check your fluids, topping off any that are low. The fluids we check are windshield wiper, anti-freeze, automatic transmission fluid, and brake fluid. Our technicians also look at your windshield wipers and will recommend replacement if they are getting worn. Our technicians also do a general check over for items that may be broken or may need service in the near future. Oil Changes should be performed every 5,000 miles the car is driven.

Scheduled Maintenance

It’s important to keep up with scheduled maintenance, to keep your vehicle running safely and smoothly. Every vehicle has a recommended schedule for service, which can be found in the vehicle’s manual. Mann & Machine can do all scheduled milage checks, oil changes, tire rotation (or change overs), and fluid flushes. By keeping up with maintenance our technicians will be able to identify small issues before they become major problems.

At Mann and Machine, we are committed to doing what is best for our customers. If we find that a service is recommended, but not needed we will not perform the service without discussing it with you. For example, your vehicle is scheduled for a 60,000 mile service, in the manual a tire rotation is recommended BUT you just had your winter tires put on. We would communicate with you before doing the rotation because it would likely be unnecessary.

Vermont State Inspection

At MANN & MACHINE we make safety our #1 priority! The State of Vermont requires an annual safety inspection following the states laws for passing and failing a vehicle. This ensures that your vehicle is in good working condition for the safety of you, your passengers, and other motorists.

 State Inspection stickers are issued monthly. We suggest making your appointment early in the month your inspection is due so if there is an issue that needs to be fixed we can get your vehicle back in before your sticker expires.

Tires Changes, Storage And Sales

At Mann and Machine, we offer a variety of tire services to keep you safe in Vermont’s four seasons! In addition to seasonal tire changes, tire storage and tire sales; we offer tire rotation, TPMS sensor replacement, valve stem replacement, tire repair, and worn tire disposal.

Seasonal Tire Changes

Vermont has hot summers and icy winters. We recommend studded snow tires for winter driving and a summer tire that can withstand the hot roads. At Mann and Machine, we offer tire change overs in the fall and spring, so you are prepared when the extreme weather arrives. A change over consists of mounting and balancing the correct seasons tires on your vehicle’s rims. We use a state-of-the-art Scratch Free Tire Balancer, so your rims are protected. All tires are rotated during seasonal change overs. Mud season is the unofficial fifth season in Vermont, we are able to clean the mud from your rims and wheel wells during the change-over if needed.

Tire Storage

For optimal longevity tires should be stored in a dry space out of the sun, wind, and moisture. If the storage space, weight of your tires, or appointment day time crunches are a challenge we offer on site, secure tire storage. For a small fee your off-season tires will be stored, you will receive an early scheduling reminder, and skip the heavy lifting!

Check Engine Light

If the check engine light on your vehicle’s dashboard comes on it is time to call Mann and Machine! There are many reasons that can cause a check engine light to come on, we have the diagnostic equipment to diagnose and understand what is happening with your vehicle. If your check engine light is solid it is usually okay to drive it to the shop. If the check engine light ever starts flashing, you need to pull off the road into a safe spot and have the vehicle towed to the shop.

At Mann and Machine, we use the latest technology in scan tools, allowing us to diagnose your vehicle more efficiently in hopes of getting you back on the road as quickly as possible!

Heating / Air Conditioning Services

Don’t get caught in the summer heat or the cold of winter, bring your vehicle to Mann and Machine, so we can diagnose and solve your temperature problems in a timely manner.

Exhaust System

If you notice your vehicle is getting loud or has a rattle it’s time to bring it to Mann and Machine to have the exhaust system looked at. The exhaust system in your vehicle is designed to remove hazardous gases and be less impactful on the environment. If you’re hearing any noises or smelling any exhaust fumes do not wait to schedule an appointment.

Suspension

If you notice changes in how your vehicle rides you may need to have your suspension checked. At Mann and Machine, we have years of experience diagnosing and repairing all suspension parts. Including but not limited to struts, shocks, sway bar links, sway bar bushings, ball joints, control arms, coil springs and more!

In 2020 Kyle and Chris became certified to work on Hybrid Electric Vehicle and Electric Vehicles (HEV/EV). Mann & Machine strives to say on top of advances in technology through continued education alloying us to perform as many repairs as possible. Buzz – The Rental Car

We offer our clients the option to rent our Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Buzz the Prius! For a small fee you can rent Buzz while your vehicle is being serviced. The option to rent Buzz is intended to make your life easier when your vehicle needs service. When you call to make your appointment ask to reserve Buzz the rental HEV!
